Karen Read Day 19

Karen Read - Day 19

The Commonwealth's Case Continues in the Murder Trial of Karen Read

By Pat Greenhouse, The Boston Globe

The Commonwealth's case continues in the murder trial of Karen Read, the woman accused of striking her Boston Police Officer boyfriend, John O'Keefe, with her Lexus SUV in Canton in 2019.

On Thursday, the jury heard from a key witness, Yuriy Bukhenik, a former Canton police officer who examined Read's SUV at the Canton Police Department on Feb. 12, 2019, the day after the incident.

Bukhenik testified that he found no evidence of a key ring on the driver's seat of Read's SUV, which the prosecution has argued is evidence that Read was not the driver at the time of the incident.

The defense has argued that Read was not the driver and that O'Keefe was driving at the time of the incident.

The trial is expected to continue for several more weeks.

Conclusion:

The murder trial of Karen Read is a high-profile case that has received a lot of media attention. The trial is still ongoing, and the outcome is still unknown. However, the evidence that has been presented so far suggests that the prosecution has a strong case against Read.

If Read is convicted of murder, she could face life in prison.
