Bayern Munich 1-0 Arsenal: Kimmich Header Gives Bayern Slight Advantage in Champions League Quarter-final

Kimmich's Goal Separates Teams in First Leg

MUNICH, Germany - Bayern Munich took a narrow advantage in their UEFA Champions League quarter-final tie with Arsenal on Tuesday, edging the Gunners 1-0 in the first leg at Allianz Arena. Joshua Kimmich's bullet header in the 63rd minute proved to be the only goal of the match, giving the German champions a slight edge heading into the second leg in London.

High-Stakes Matchup Delivers Epic Contest

The match lived up to its billing as a clash between two of Europe's top clubs, with both Bayern and Arsenal creating numerous chances throughout the 90 minutes. The Gunners came close to opening the scoring on several occasions, but they were repeatedly denied by the heroics of Bayern goalkeeper Manuel Neuer.

As the game entered the latter stages, Bayern began to assert their dominance and finally broke the deadlock when Kimmich rose above the Arsenal defense to head home a corner kick from Thomas Müller. The goal was a deserved reward for Bayern's persistent attacking play and gave them a crucial lead to protect in the second leg.

Arsenal will now need to overturn the deficit at the Emirates Stadium if they wish to reach the Champions League semi-finals. The second leg is scheduled for next Tuesday, April 16.
